ROBERT D. ALBANBob Alban began his legal career in Long Beach in 1969 after graduation from the University of Arizona College of Law. Between 1969 and 1972, Bob engaged in civil litigation and general business law. Bob then obtained a Masters in Tax Law in 1973 from New York University. Bob joined the law firm of Simon, McKinsey and Miller where he practiced law as a general business and tax lawyer. Bob became a partner in Simon, McKinsey, Miller, Zommick, Sandor & Alban. He left the firm in 1984 and since that time has focused on estate planning and estate and trust administration.
Bob has been active in the community and has served on a variety of Board of Directors, such as the American Cancer Society, the Long Beach Community Foundation, and the Jewish Federation Foundation of Greater Long Beach and West Orange County. He has also been active in the legal community, having served as President of the Long Beach Barristers, the Long Beach Bar Association, and the Estate Planning and Trust Council of Long Beach. Bob was honored as Lawyer of the Year by the Long Beach Bar Association in January 2016. He lives in Huntington Beach with his wife, Jeannie. Bob has three grown children - Jon (his partner), Blake (a pediatrician in Los Angeles), and Jennifer (with a masters in sports management, working as Community Resource Director of Long Beach Jewish Family Services). JON K. ALBANJon earned the Accredited Estate Planner designation from the National Association of Estate Planners and Councils in 2019. He has been a member of the Long Beach Estate Planning and Trust Council since 1999 and served on its Board of Directors. Jon has served as Chair of the Probate and Estate Planning Section of the Long Beach Bar Association since 2017. Jon previously served as President of the Long Beach Barristers and as a Board Member for the Long Beach Bar Association. Jon has been an active member of the Ball/Hunt/Schooley Inn of Court since 2014.
Jon joined his father, Bob, in the estate planning practice in 1999. Prior to that, Jon served as a Judicial Law Clerk to the Honorable Robert W. Alberts in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court and served as an Associate Attorney with Marshack, Shulman, & Hodges from 1997-1999. Jon attended UC Berkeley (B.S. Business Administration) and the ASU College of Law (J.D. Law). After graduation, he served on the Board of the Orange County Cal Alumni Club and on the Board of the Arizona State University Alumni, Orange County Chapter. His wife is a volunteer at the Assistance League of Huntington Beach. His son attends SMU. Jon volunteers at the Aquarium of the Pacific, on the Professional Advisory Committee for the Long Beach Community Foundation, and for the Ocean Institute in Dana Point. Jon participates in Beach City Sports and enjoys spending time with family and friends, at the beach, on the golf course, on the slopes, and on travels.
